Konkan Railway Intensifies Ticket Checks, Recovers Rs 2.9 Crore

Mumbai: Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) has ramped up its ticket inspection operations across its entire network to curb unauthorized travel and ensure fair revenue collection. According to an official press release issued on Friday, the railway authority conducted 934 dedicated ticket-checking drives during April 2026, in addition to routine inspections. These efforts led to the detection of approximately 37,000 instances of unauthorized or irregular travel.

Significant Revenue Recovery

The intensified checks resulted in a substantial recovery of Rs 2.9 crore towards due railway fares and penalties. For the entire financial year 2025-26, KRCL carried out 11,394 special ticket-checking drives across its network. These inspections uncovered a total of 4,99,675 cases of unauthorized or irregular travelers. The cumulative recoveries from these drives amounted to Rs 27.68 crore in fares and penalties.

Objective of the Drive

KRCL stated that the intensified checking is aimed at improving compliance among passengers and protecting the interests of genuine travelers. By penalizing those traveling without valid tickets or with irregular tickets, the railway corporation seeks to deter fraudulent practices and ensure that revenue is not lost to unauthorized travel.
