Lucknow: Railway services at Lucknow Junction will be significantly impacted for over a month due to concourse construction work being carried out by the Rail Land Development Authority. Northern Railway has announced that a traffic block will remain in place from May 15 to June 23, leading to short-termination, short-origination, and diversion of several trains.
Platform Closures and Timings
According to railway officials, platform number 4 at Charbagh station will remain completely blocked daily between 11am and 5pm. Operations on platform number 3 will also be regulated during the same period. This disruption is caused by the ongoing construction of a new concourse aimed at improving passenger amenities.
Impact on Local and Passenger Trains
Several MEMU and passenger trains will either terminate at or originate from nearby stations such as Kanpur Central and Alamnagar instead of Lucknow. This change is intended to minimize inconvenience to passengers while ensuring safety during the construction work.
Express Train Diversions
Several express trains, including the Muzaffarpur–Surat, Surat–Muzaffarpur, Okha–Guwahati, Kamakhya–Gandhidham, and Lokmanya Tilak–Gorakhpur Express, will be diverted via alternative routes. These trains will skip Charbagh station and instead halt at Aishbagh and Badshahnagar stations. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedules before traveling.
Railway authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated with the latest information from Northern Railway. The concourse construction is expected to enhance the overall travel experience once completed.
