The Jharkhand State Agriculture Department is preparing to host the mega Jharkhand Krishi Vyapar Mela 2026, a key initiative to promote agricultural innovation and rural entrepreneurship. Officials announced on Tuesday that the three-day fair will be held at Morabadi ground in Ranchi from June 16 to 18.
Inauguration and Preparations
Chief Minister Hemant Soren is scheduled to inaugurate the event. Officials confirmed that preparations have entered the final phase, with workers engaged in finishing work across the venue. Preparations began on May 28 and are expected to be completed by June 13.
During a recent visit to the site, large exhibition pavilions, temporary structures, and event infrastructure were seen taking shape. A worker involved in the preparations stated, “Most of the construction work has been completed, and we are now carrying out the finishing work.”
Exhibition and Objectives
Addressing the media, State Agriculture Director Bidyanand Sharma Pankaj revealed that around 200 stalls will be set up at the mela. “The main objective is to showcase the latest agricultural techniques, innovations, and equipment so that farmers in Jharkhand can become aware of modern developments in agriculture,” he said.
Pankaj added that the mela will highlight new agricultural practices focused on achieving higher productivity with lower input costs. Stalls will feature developments in horticulture, dairy farming, animal husbandry, and allied agricultural sectors. Various agricultural products and technologies will be displayed for farmers and visitors.
Participants and Activities
The mela will bring together farmers, traders, agri-startups, researchers, machinery manufacturers, and policymakers from different parts of Jharkhand and other states. Thematic sessions will also be organized, where experts from agricultural universities and institutions across the country will share their knowledge and interact with participants.
This event is expected to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and networking, ultimately empowering local farmers with modern tools and techniques to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.
