Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Dr Jaswinder Singh has issued a strict warning to fertiliser dealers in Jalandhar district against the practice of tagging other agricultural products with urea sales. During a meeting held with dealers, he emphasized that urea is an essential fertiliser for farmers and any attempt to force them to purchase additional products alongside urea is a violation of government instructions. Such actions will invite strict action under the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO).
Meeting Highlights
The meeting, chaired by Dr Jaswinder Singh, focused on the proper distribution and sale of fertilisers and ensuring compliance with government guidelines. The CAO urged dealers to ensure timely availability of fertilisers to farmers and maintain complete transparency in sales and stock records. He stressed that fertilisers should be sold only based on the genuine requirements of farmers, without any coercive marketing practices.
Dealers' Assurance
Prominent fertiliser dealers, including Angad Kapoor of Punjab Khad Store, Praveen Kumar of Malwa Khad Store, and Ashwani Kumar of Kisan Khad Store, attended the meeting. They assured the CAO that they would strictly follow government guidelines and cooperate with the Agriculture Department in safeguarding the interests of farmers.
Dr Jaswinder Singh reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring fair practices in fertiliser distribution. He warned that any deviation from the rules would lead to severe consequences. The meeting concluded with a call for collective efforts to support the farming community.
