Lucknow: Career opportunities are available across diverse fields and sectors, but the key lies in identifying the right opportunity and continuing to learn without fearing failure, said UP Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh in his address on the second day of the 'Education and Career Fair' organised by The Times of India-NBT in the city on Sunday.
Education Beyond Degrees
Singh said education should not be limited to obtaining degrees alone. He said the real purpose of education is to improve decision-making ability and help individuals understand the right direction in life. "Education develops confidence, awareness and clarity, which are essential for personal and professional growth," he added.
Embracing Failure as a Learning Tool
He urged students to treat failure as part of the learning process rather than as a setback. He said determination, continuous learning and skill development are necessary in a competitive environment where industries and technologies are changing rapidly.
National Education Policy Focus
Referring to the National Education Policy, Singh said it focuses on holistic development of students by promoting decision-making ability, problem-solving skills and adaptability to new technologies. Highlighting the role of youth in nation-building, Singh said they represent the energy and potential that will shape the country's future. He also stressed the importance of acquiring new skills in line with changing industry demands.
Role of Career Fairs
Singh appreciated initiatives such as education and career fairs for helping students gain exposure to emerging sectors, skill development programmes and higher education opportunities. Such platforms, he said, help students make informed career choices and better prepare for future challenges.
