Patna University (PU) has announced that it will conduct all undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) examinations during the monthlong summer vacation, which began on Saturday and will continue until June 21. The university is gearing up to hold these exams despite the break, with many teachers volunteering to work through the vacation.
Revised Examination Schedule for UG Students
For UG students, the third-year final (semester VI) examinations of the 2023-27 session in arts, science, and commerce streams have been postponed. Originally scheduled for May 23, they will now take place from June 2 to June 9, according to PU examination controller Benoy Kumar Lal.
PG Examinations to Commence in June
For PG students, the final (semester-IV) examinations of the 2024-26 session are likely to begin on June 8. All final semester students of MA, MSc, and MCom courses must fill their online examination forms by June 1, 2026. The last date for submission with late fine is June 3. Heads of postgraduate departments have been directed to validate the forms by June 5.
Only students who have secured a minimum of 45% marks in continuous internal assessment (CIA) are eligible to fill the end semester examination form, the controller added.
Teachers Volunteer During Vacation
Many university teachers have volunteered to forgo their summer vacation and participate in examination-related work, including invigilation, evaluation, conducting practical exams, and assessing answer scripts. Lal stated that such teachers will be entitled to earned leave for the period they are on duty.
Admission Process Underway
The admission process for UG programs across PU colleges is also in progress. Online applications for regular and self-financing courses are being accepted through the Samarth portal until May 30. PU students' welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit said the entire admission process for UG courses is likely to be completed during the vacation itself. Admissions for postgraduate courses will begin on June 10.
