The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the schedule for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. The exam will be conducted on May 24, 2026, in two shifts. Candidates appearing for the exam must adhere to the guidelines issued by the commission.
Exam Shift Timings
The UPSC Prelims 2026 will be held in two shifts. The first shift, which is the General Studies Paper I, will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The second shift, the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper II, will be conducted from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre at least one hour before the reporting time.
Important Guidelines for Candidates
- Admit Card: Candidates must carry a printed copy of the UPSC admit card along with a valid photo ID (such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport) to the exam centre.
- Reporting Time: Entry to the exam hall will close 30 minutes before the start of the exam. Latecomers will not be allowed.
- Prohibited Items: Electronic devices like mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and Bluetooth devices are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
- Dress Code: Candidates are advised to wear light-coloured clothes. Avoid wearing shoes with thick soles or any metallic accessories.
- COVID-19 Protocols: Though restrictions have eased, candidates are encouraged to wear masks and carry hand sanitizer for safety.
