Direct admissions for 116 courses across 30 teaching departments of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) began on Sunday with the start of registrations under the university's revamped non-CUET admission process. The admissions will be conducted for 3,225 seats, and students will receive seat allotment directly on the basis of merit.
Important Dates and Schedule
According to the university schedule, the last date for submission of application forms is June 10, 2026, while counselling and written tests for selected courses will be conducted between June 15 and June 23. The university has introduced major changes in the admission format this year after several courses witnessed poor response in recent years.
New Programmes and Course Changes
Around 30 new programmes have been added to the process, while nearly 29 courses that were part of the earlier admission cycle have been removed. DAVV is expected to release the detailed notification and schedule shortly. University officials said the revised system has been designed to make the process easier and more convenient for students.
Overall admission chairman Dr BK Tripathi said admissions in all 116 courses would be conducted directly on the basis of merit. He added that the university had almost completed preparations and the official advertisement would be issued soon.
Departments Offering Admissions
The admissions will be conducted in departments including School of Commerce, School of Economics, School of Pharmacy, School of Physics, School of Chemistry, School of Mathematics, School of Social Sciences, School of Education, International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS), Institute of Management Studies (IMS), School of Data Science, School of Journalism and Mass Communication and School of Electronics, among others.
Previous Year's Performance and Improvements
Last year, the non-CUET process included around 115 courses with 3,283 seats, but more than half the seats remained vacant. According to university figures, only around 1,520 applications were received in 2025 despite repeated efforts to improve admissions over the past four years.
Direct admission process chairman Dr Yaduvendra Choyal said the university completed preparations for the revised process and hoped the changes would attract more students this year.
Educationists' Perspective
Educationists from the city said several programmes, including BSc Electronics and MSc courses, continue to have demand among students, especially those unable to secure admission through NEET, JEE or CUET examinations. He said a simpler process could improve student participation in such courses.
