Woman Elopes with Snake Catcher Boyfriend After Family Objects

A 21-year-old woman from Lucknow has reportedly eloped with her boyfriend, a snake catcher, after her family strongly opposed their relationship. The incident has led to her father filing a kidnapping case against the man, according to police officials on Tuesday.

Background of the Relationship

The woman, a resident of the PGI area, had been in a relationship with the accused for some time. The couple wished to marry, but her family objected, primarily citing his lack of stable income. The man earns his livelihood by rescuing snakes and reptiles from residential areas and institutions, and he does not hold a permanent job, which became the main point of contention for the family.

Previous Attempts for Employment

Police revealed that the man had earlier tried to secure a permanent position at a prominent medical institute but was unsuccessful. In January, he even climbed a 150-feet tower to press his demands for employment, but his efforts did not yield results.

Legal Action Taken

Following the woman's disappearance, her father lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that she had been kidnapped by the same man with the intention of marriage. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with kidnapping and inducement of a woman to force her into marriage.

Police Investigation

The Station House Officer (SHO) of PGI, Dhirendra Kumar, stated that multiple police teams have been formed to trace the couple. Their last known location has been traced to Shahjahanpur, and efforts are underway to locate them. Police are also examining call records and other electronic evidence to track their movements.

The case has drawn attention due to the unusual profession of the accused and the family's strong opposition. Meanwhile, the woman's family remains hopeful that she will be found and brought back safely.
