Delhi LG Proposes Former Agniveers for Fire Dept

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has proposed recruiting former Agniveers to fill vacancies in the Delhi Fire Services following the tragic Hauz Rani fire that claimed 21 lives. The proposal was discussed during a Delhi Disaster Management Authority meeting attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The meeting reviewed fire safety enforcement, illegal constructions, emergency preparedness and staffing shortages in the fire department. The move aims to strengthen the city's fire safety infrastructure and enhance emergency response capabilities. Officials are expected to evaluate the feasibility of integrating Agniveers into the fire services, leveraging their disciplined training and experience.
