Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh minister Anil Rajbhar has demanded that the ‘dargah’ of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi in Bahraich be surveyed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Responding to questions regarding the alleged existence of a Surya Kund on the ‘dargah’ premises, Rajbhar stated that the government should seriously consider the matter and examine all related aspects.
Minister's Remarks During Campaign
Rajbhar was in Bahraich to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Bhagwa’ campaign near the Maharaja Suheldev memorial site, close to Chittaura Lake. He emphasized that he would discuss the issue with the chief minister and also write to the Prime Minister, seeking appropriate action.
“An ASI survey of the ‘dargah’ will be conducted. Maharaja Suheldev was neglected in the past. Congress and Samajwadi Party governments focused on beautifying the shrine of Ghazi and did not pay attention to Maharaja Suheldev’s legacy,” Rajbhar said.
Memorial for Maharaja Suheldev
The minister highlighted that a grand memorial dedicated to Maharaja Suheldev has now been built in Bahraich. “Thousands of people visit the memorial every day to pay their respects to the legendary ruler,” he added, underscoring the shift in focus towards honoring local historical figures.
