In a proactive move to promote cleanliness and prepare for the monsoon season, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), personally cleaned garbage in Gulab Nagar Colony on Sunday. The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about proper waste disposal and the importance of community participation in keeping the city clean.
Inspection and Cleanliness Drive
Commissioner Parsad visited Ward 17, focusing on the camp and Gulab Nagar areas, to inspect sanitary conditions and drain cleaning operations. During his visit, he not only supervised the work but also actively participated by picking up litter and cleaning clogged drains. He emphasized that citizens must cooperate with the municipal corporation by disposing of household waste only in designated garbage collection vehicles and refraining from throwing trash in open spaces.
Warnings and Appeals
The Commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against those found dumping garbage in the open. He stated, "Citizens' participation is as crucial as the Municipal Corporation's responsibility in building a clean city." He urged residents to adopt responsible waste management practices to ensure a hygienic environment.
Pre-Monsoon Drain Cleaning
Following the inspection, Commissioner Parsad assessed several drains in the area. Sanitation workers present on the spot immediately cleared drains blocked with debris and removed accumulated waste. The Commissioner instructed officials and staff to ensure thorough cleaning of all drains before the monsoon season to prevent waterlogging. He made it clear that any negligence in cleaning work would not be tolerated.
Officials Present
During the event, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, Municipal Councillor of Ward 17 Dixit Kumar, Chief Sanitation Inspectors Vinod Beniwal and Harjeet Singh, Sanitation Inspector Govind Sharma, and local residents were present.
