Nagpur Railway Station's Platform 2 Reopens After Two-Month Upgrade
Nagpur Station Platform 2 Reopens After Upgrade

Nagpur: After remaining closed for nearly two months due to infrastructure upgrade works, Platform No. 2 at Nagpur Railway Station finally resumed operations on Tuesday. The platform, which was shut on April 8, was reopened after a delay of around 10 days beyond the originally scheduled deadline.

The closure led to the temporary shifting of several train operations, including the Nagpur-Madgaon services, to other platforms and, in some cases, to Ajni station. With the restoration of Platform No. 2, the Ajni-Madgaon Express will once again originate from Nagpur Railway Station. Trains that were diverted during the closure period will also return to their regular platform arrangements.

Infrastructure Enhancement Works

According to railway officials, the platform was closed as part of major infrastructure enhancement works undertaken by the Nagpur Division of Central Railway to improve passenger amenities and support the overall redevelopment of Nagpur station. The work was executed by the Rail Land Development Authority and was originally scheduled between April 8 and May 29, spanning 52 days.

Railway authorities said that the work was carried out in coordination with the non-interlocking block operations undertaken at Gondia station by the South East Central Railway from April 4, 2026. The authorities utilised the shadow block period to complete the work safely while ensuring minimal disruption to train services.

Affected Train Services

Several trains were affected during the closure of Platform No. 2, including the Nagpur-Madgaon Express, Hyderabad-Gorakhpur Express, KSR Bengaluru-Lal Kuan Special, and Bengaluru-Danapur Special. These services will now operate as per their original arrangements.

The reopening of Platform No. 2 is expected to ease passenger movement and improve operational efficiency at Nagpur Railway Station, which is undergoing significant redevelopment as part of its modernisation plans.
