In the early hours of Wednesday, a fire broke out at a private hospital in Bengaluru, forcing the evacuation of 14 patients, several of whom were in the intensive care unit (ICU). Police confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported among patients or staff.
Incident Details
The fire was reported around 3:15 am at Aveksha Hospital, located on MS Palya Road in the Singapura area of the city. Fire tenders arrived promptly after receiving the alert and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further inside the building, according to a senior police officer.
Cause of Fire
The fire is suspected to have originated from an electrical cable in the basement duct of the hospital. The incident resulted in dense smoke spreading through parts of the premises, causing panic among patients and staff members.
Evacuation and Aftermath
As a precautionary measure, the evacuated patients were shifted to a nearby hospital to ensure continuity of medical care. Officials from the Vidyaranyapura police station inspected the spot after the fire was extinguished.
