According to official reports, police were actively searching for Saleem in connection with an earlier murder case when they spotted him with associates in a car at the Hennur traffic signal.
As the situation escalated, Saleem stopped the vehicle near the forest office in HBR Layout and attempted to flee on foot. Police officers gave chase and successfully apprehended him. However, when they moved to detain him, Saleem launched a violent attack, using a knife to strike a constable on the elbow, causing serious injuries.
Legal Proceedings and Evidence
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Vikram Amte provided crucial insights into the investigation. "We filed a chargesheet against Saleem and had ample evidence at the crime scene, including the knife used in the attack," he stated, underscoring the strength of the prosecution's case.
