Prayagraj: A criminal was injured and taken into custody along with his accomplice by a team of Kada Dham police in Kaushambi district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. According to police officials, the Kada Dham police received a tip-off regarding an inter-district gang involved in snatching and robbery operations. The gang was reportedly active in the border areas of Kaushambi and Fatehpur.
Police Operation and Exchange of Fire
As the police team conducted search and checking near Naudia Nahar Pulia road, the criminals opened fire on the police party. In response, the police returned fire, resulting in one of the criminals sustaining injuries. The two criminals had previously looted cash and valuables from a man and his mother near Pulia road on April 27.
Recovery of Weapons and Stolen Items
Following the incident, police recovered a country-made pistol of 0.315 caliber along with two used cartridges and one live cartridge, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other valuables from the scene. The injured criminal, identified as Shyamjeet, a resident of Haibatpur village in Fatehpur, was admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Ismailpur Kada Dham for medical treatment.
Police also arrested the accomplice, Amit Saroj of Sorai Buzurg, after a brief chase. Both individuals are believed to be part of the gang that has been terrorizing the region. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about their criminal activities and any additional members of the gang.
