Kendrapada: A 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing his 70-year-old mother in Patuni village under Rajkanika police station in Kendrapada district on Saturday night. The accused, identified as Bijay Sahoo, had returned home in an intoxicated state on Saturday night and initially attempted to assault his father, Nabaghana Sahoo (74), in a fit of rage. When his mother, Hiramani Sahoo, intervened to stop him, Bijay attacked her with a wooden plank, resulting in her death.
Legal Proceedings
Sanjay Kumar Mallick, Inspector-in-Charge of Rajkanika police station, stated that the accused was produced before the court at Pattamundai on Sunday, where his bail application was rejected. The police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
