A 28-year-old man allegedly shot dead his father and wife in Bulandshahr after suspecting an illicit relationship between the two, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Kalandargarhi village, where Momin Khan, who runs a medical store in Aligarh, allegedly opened fire on his father Mohd Riyazuddin, 50, a property dealer, and wife Sana, 24, using his father’s licensed pistol before fleeing the scene. Police reported that Riyazuddin died on the spot, while Sana, who sustained critical bullet injuries, was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed during treatment.
Background of the Incident
Officials revealed that the couple had been married for about a year, and Sana had delivered a baby boy nearly two weeks ago. However, Momin doubted the child’s paternity. “Momin had long suspected his father and wife of being involved in an illicit relationship, leading to frequent quarrels between the couple. On Sunday, the matter escalated after which Sana’s family reached the house to intervene,” said SSP Dinesh Kumar. He added that Momin opened fire shortly after Sana’s family members left the house.
Arrest and Investigation
Police confirmed that Momin was arrested and a case was registered under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Circle officer Shobit Kumar stated that during interrogation, Momin allegedly found obscene chats and photographs of his wife and father on a mobile phone. “The accused told police that he had known about the alleged affair for nearly eight months and had even caught them in an objectionable position earlier. He claimed to have warned both of them several times, but the relationship continued. Sana’s family had also allegedly reprimanded her over the matter,” the officer said.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the evidence, including the mobile phone containing the alleged chats and photographs. The case has shocked the local community, highlighting the tragic consequences of suspicion and domestic strife.
