Police Seek Cancellation of Anticipatory Bail for Swami

The Harihar Rural police have submitted a petition to the Davanagere district sessions court seeking the cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Vachanananda Swami of Panchamasali Mutt, Harihara, in connection with a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) case. The police submitted a report on the matter to the court in a sealed envelope. If the anticipatory bail is cancelled, the Swami could be arrested at any moment.

Background of the Case

Vachanananda Swami had obtained anticipatory bail before the case was officially registered, alleging a conspiracy to file a Pocso case against him. The Harihar Rural station police, led by investigating officer and Station House Officer Suresh Sagari, have now moved the court to revoke this bail.

Police Statement

Inspector Suresh Sagari stated, “A Pocso case has been registered against Vachanananda Swami. We have petitioned the court to cancel the anticipatory bail. He is scheduled to appear at the station again for questioning on May 25.” The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
