Prayagraj police arrest two gangsters in auto-lifting case

Prayagraj: In a major breakthrough, Nawabganj police on Sunday arrested two gangsters involved in an organised auto-lifting racket. The accused have been identified as Krishna Kumar alias Bachcha Yadav (26) and Umesh Chandra Gupta alias Billoo (40), both residents of Nawabganj near Dhanaram Ka Purwa area.

Racket Details

The duo was operating a sophisticated network where they would steal vehicles, alter the chassis and engine numbers, and then resell them with forged documents. Police officials stated that the gang had been active for some time and had managed to evade capture until now.

Legal Action

Both accused have been booked under sections 2/3 of the UP Gangster Act. Krishna Kumar, the alleged gang leader, has a criminal record with 11 pending cases against him. Umesh Chandra Gupta also has multiple cases registered in various police stations.

Police are now investigating the extent of the racket and are looking for other members of the gang. Further investigations are underway to trace other stolen vehicles and recover them.
