Two Houses Burgled in Bokaro Railway Colony

Two houses in the railway colony under Balidih police station were burgled while the occupants were away, police said. FIRs in this connection were registered on Sunday.

Discovery of the Theft

The thefts came to light on Saturday morning after local residents noticed broken locks and informed the homeowners and the police. Officer-in-charge of Balidih police station, Naveen Kumar Singh, reached the spot with a team and examined the CCTV footage installed in the colony. Investigators found footage showing two men with their faces covered moving around the campus at around 12:40 am. Police suspect the burglary took place between 12:40 am and 1:30 am.

Details of the Burglary

Resident Pradeep Kumar Bhowmik, who had gone to Kolkata with his family for his father’s funeral rites, later lodged an FIR. He said the main door latch was cut and almirah lockers were broken open. Stolen items included gold chains, earrings, Rs 28,000 cash, and a handycam. Another resident, S K Dubey, was away in his village. Police said raids are underway.
