FARIDABAD: Two workers died in a tragic accident after falling into a tank at a municipal sewage treatment plant in Faridabad's Jeevan Nagar Part-2 on Tuesday morning, officials said.
Details of the Incident
According to preliminary information, the victims, identified as 26-year-old Akash and his colleague Aman, were carrying out maintenance work and fixing a chain inside the sewage treatment plant tank when the incident occurred. Officials said Akash had descended into the tank with a safety belt. However, the belt reportedly broke, causing him to lose balance and fall into the tank. In an attempt to rescue him, Aman immediately entered the tank. However, he allegedly slipped and also fell inside. Both men died after falling into the tank, officials said.
Rescue and Investigation
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Rescue personnel managed to retrieve one body from the tank, while efforts were initially launched to recover the second victim. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and are examining whether any safety lapses contributed to the deaths.
