Woman escapes murder attempt after resisting rape in Namakkal

A 19-year-old woman from Bihar narrowly escaped a murder attempt by two coworkers after she resisted their rape attempt in a rubber factory near Rasipuram, Namakkal district. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when the men allegedly pushed her towards a railway track as a train approached. The woman managed to roll away, but sustained fractures in both legs.

Incident Details

The victim worked at a private rubber factory on Attayampatti Road alongside several young men from Bihar. According to railway police sources, she went out with two coworkers around 4 am. The three were walking along the railway tracks when the men suddenly forced her to comply with their wishes, a railway police officer in Salem said.

The woman objected to their advances, leading to a clash. In anger, the two men allegedly pushed her towards the track as a train was fast approaching. The woman fell on the track and suffered leg fractures but managed to roll herself away before the train crossed the spot. The men fled the scene, the officer added.

Rescue and Investigation

Hearing her cries, passersby rushed to the spot and informed the Rasipuram police. Police reached the scene, rescued the woman, and took her to the Rasipuram Government Hospital. She was later referred to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

The railway police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities are searching for the two suspects, who remain at large.
