Thieves steal 483g gold, cash from locked house in Davangere

In a daring burglary, thieves broke into a locked house in Amaravati Colony, Harihar, in Davangere district, and made off with 483 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 in cash while the family was away attending a wedding. The incident occurred at the residence of businessman Parikshit C Naidu, a resident of D Block, Amaravati Colony, who had left for a relative's wedding in Gokarna.

Timeline of the Theft

The family departed for the wedding on Monday, and the theft took place the same night. The crime came to light the following morning when the housemaid arrived and noticed that the main door lock had been broken. She promptly informed the owners, who returned and filed a complaint at the Harihar Rural police station.

Items Stolen

According to the complaint, the thieves stole a long chain, a bent ring, a disco chain, bracelets, and bangles, amounting to a total of 483 grams of gold jewellery, along with Rs 10,000 in cash. Police noted that the estimated current market value of the stolen jewellery is Rs 67.6 lakh. Interestingly, the thieves targeted only the larger jewellery pieces, leaving behind smaller items.

Investigation Underway

Police officials visited the crime scene with a canine squad and fingerprint experts to gather evidence. They are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
