VD Satheesan, the leader of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, met Governor Rajendra Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday to stake claim to form the next government in the state. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 18.
Meeting with the Governor
Satheesan was accompanied by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of Kerala, Deepa Dasmunsi, and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph. The delegation submitted a letter of support from the UDF legislators to the Governor, formally staking claim to form the government.

The development comes after the UDF secured a decisive victory in the recently concluded Kerala assembly elections. The coalition won a clear majority, paving the way for Satheesan to become the next Chief Minister.
