Pune: House-listing operations for Census 2027 are nearly 85% complete across Maharashtra. State authorities have directed district collectors, municipal commissioners, and census officers to expedite the remaining work and ensure timely completion before the June 14 deadline. This directive was issued during a recent review meeting.
Four Jurisdictions Achieve 100% Completion
Four jurisdictions have already achieved full completion of house-listing operations. These include Sindhudurg district, Dhule Municipal Corporation, Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation, and Jalna district. Census officials from these areas have submitted their completion details. Other districts are urged to finish their pending work promptly.
Measures to Ensure Complete Coverage
Officials have been instructed to conduct revisits in enumeration blocks reporting a high number of locked houses. This step aims to ensure no households are left out of the census. Enumerators have been directed to regularly synchronize data collected through the census application immediately after completing fieldwork. This practice helps avoid delays in data consolidation.
Supervisors have been instructed to ensure that enumerators complete the blocks assigned to them within stipulated timelines. Charge officers across districts have been directed to ensure the safety and security of census functionaries during field operations.
Remaining 15% Work to Be Completed Soon
Officials stated that efforts are being intensified across districts to complete the remaining 15% of the work in the coming days. The state administration is committed to meeting the June 14 deadline and ensuring a comprehensive and accurate census.
