BJP national president JP Nadda on Saturday accused the Congress government in Karnataka of betraying the people of the state. Addressing a public meeting in Belagavi, Nadda alleged that the Congress party had failed to deliver on its promises and was indulging in corruption.
Nadda's Allegations
Nadda said that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had betrayed the trust of the people. He claimed that the government had not fulfilled its pre-election guarantees, including the promise of 200 units of free electricity and a monthly allowance for women. Instead, he alleged, the government was focused on filling its own coffers.
The BJP chief also criticized the Congress for its handling of the Mahadayi river water dispute, accusing it of failing to protect the interests of the state. He said that the BJP would expose the failures of the Congress government in the coming days.
Congress Response
In response, Karnataka Congress spokesperson Ravi Gowda dismissed Nadda's allegations as baseless. He said that the Congress government was committed to the welfare of the people and had taken several steps to fulfill its promises. Gowda accused the BJP of trying to divert attention from its own failures at the national level.
The political confrontation comes ahead of the upcoming local body elections in Karnataka, where both parties are expected to engage in intense campaigning.
