The Indore City Congress has intensified its attack on Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, accusing the municipal corporation of executing an unauthorized and politically motivated diversion of a water pipeline. This diversion has allegedly deprived several settlements of their fair share of water.
Congress Alleges Unauthorized Pipeline Diversion
Addressing a press conference, Congress city president Chintu Chouksey stated that an 8-inch interconnecting pipeline was laid without the approval of a detailed project report. This pipeline was used to redirect water from the Triveni overhead tank.
Chouksey claimed that the water, originally meant for the Lala Ka Bagicha slum across Wards 45 and 46, was systematically diverted to areas represented by BJP corporator Lal Bahadur Verma. He demanded the Mayor's resignation and announced a major sit-in protest at Rajwada on May 26.
Mayor Dismisses Allegations
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav dismissed the allegations, accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation to create public confusion during a severe summer crisis. He asserted that the Indore Municipal Corporation maintains clear records and distributes resources impartially to every neighbourhood.
The Congress party has called for a thorough investigation into the matter, emphasizing that the diversion violates standard procedures and has exacerbated water shortages in already struggling communities. The protest on May 26 is expected to draw significant public attention to the issue.
