An 18-year-old youth was killed and six others were injured after a vehicle carrying a group of friends plunged into a gorge near the Badnawar bypass on the Indore-Ujjain route early Sunday morning. The group was on their way to the Sanwariya Seth temple.
Incident Details
The accident occurred when the vehicle, carrying seven friends from the Lasudia area of Indore, went out of control on a bridge and fell into a gorge below. Two of the injured were later referred to Indore after their condition turned critical.
Victims and Injured
Doctors declared Vishal Parihar, a resident of Lasudia, dead. The injured were identified as Piyush, Nilesh, Chandan, Ayush, Milan, and Om. Police reported that Piyush and Nilesh sustained serious injuries and were referred to Indore, while the others were undergoing treatment at Charak Hospital in Ujjain.
Rescue and Investigation
After receiving information, a Dial 112 team from Nanakheda police station reached the spot and shifted all injured to the hospital. Head constable Dharmendra Suryavanshi confirmed that the deceased's postmortem examination was conducted.
Cause of Accident
According to the injured, the group had planned the temple visit a few days ago and assembled around 1:30 am before starting the journey. Police said Nilesh was driving the vehicle. Preliminary information suggests the driver lost control while trying to avoid a dead cow lying on the bypass road, causing the vehicle to veer off and plunge into the gorge.
