Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel sustained injuries on Tuesday when a bus carrying security personnel for Amarnath Yatra duty was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district, officials said.
Details of the Accident
The incident occurred at Peerah along the busy highway. According to officials, the bus, which was transporting BSF personnel from Jammu to Anantnag for deployment on Amarnath Yatra duty, first collided with a passenger vehicle, a Maruti Ertiga, and then crashed into a tractor-trolley.
The injured personnel have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjeet Kumar and Head Constable Arveen Kumar. They suffered minor injuries in the accident and were promptly evacuated to Ramban district hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, officials confirmed.
Traffic Disruption and Restoration
The accident caused a brief disruption of traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, with the affected stretch remaining partially blocked for some time. Authorities quickly removed the damaged vehicles from the road, and normal traffic was restored on the route.
Investigation Launched
Officials stated that an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
The BSF personnel were part of a contingent deployed for security duties related to the annual Amarnath Yatra, which attracts thousands of pilgrims each year. The highway is a critical link for both civilian and security traffic in the region.
