Oil marketing companies on Friday hiked petrol and diesel prices in Uttar Pradesh by Rs 2.86 and Rs 3.01 per litre, respectively. The revision has sparked concerns among daily commuters and transport operators who are already grappling with rising operational costs.
New Fuel Rates in Lucknow
According to the latest revision, petrol in Lucknow now costs Rs 97.55 per litre, up from Rs 94.69. Diesel has been hiked from Rs 87.81 to Rs 90.82 per litre. XP95 petrol rose by Rs 2.99 to Rs 106.13 per litre, while XG diesel increased by Rs 3.01 to Rs 96.43 per litre.
Impact on Commuters and Transport
The steep increase has added to the financial burden of vehicle owners and logistics providers. Many commuters expressed dismay over the frequent price revisions, while transport associations warned of possible fare adjustments if the trend continues.
Fuel Supply Situation
Officials assured that fuel availability remains stable across Uttar Pradesh. The state-level coordinator of oil marketing companies stated that sufficient reserves are being maintained at depots, terminals, and retail outlets. As per latest data, Uttar Pradesh holds around 23.8 crore litres of petrol and 51.6 crore litres of diesel stock, estimated to cover approximately 15 days of consumption for both fuels.
The supply chains are robust, with regular replenishment from refineries ensuring uninterrupted availability. The SLC office emphasized that there is no cause for panic buying.
