Fatal Road Accident in Karur Claims Three Lives
A tragic road accident in Karur district on Tuesday morning resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a 28-year-old pregnant woman and her husband. The incident occurred near Aravakurichi when a speeding car lost control and collided with a stationary truck after a two-wheeler suddenly crossed the highway.
Details of the Victims
The deceased were identified as V Aravindh, 30, his wife A Janani, 28, who was eight months pregnant, and the car driver P Veera, 40. All three were from Usilampatti near Madurai. The couple's two-year-old daughter, Dwitha, survived the accident with injuries. The family was traveling from Bengaluru to their hometown in a sedan car.
Sequence of Events
According to Karur police, the accident took place around 6 am on Tuesday near the Esanatham junction on the Salem-Madurai national highway. A two-wheeler attempted to cross the highway, forcing the car driver to swerve sharply to avoid a collision. Despite deploying the safety airbags, the car hit the two-wheeler, lost control, and rammed a stationary truck parked on the roadside.
The impact was fatal for Veera, Aravindh, and Janani, who died on the spot. The couple's daughter sustained injuries but survived. The two-wheeler rider, identified as P Pandithurai, 32, from Aravakurichi, was severely injured and admitted to a private hospital.
Police Investigation
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Karur Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Aravakurichi police are investigating the case further. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on highways, especially at junctions where vehicles may cross unexpectedly.
