Riyan Parag on His Aggressive Captaincy Style
Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag has opened up about his leadership approach in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, stating that he has taken a lot of brave calls to keep the team in contention for the playoffs. The young skipper emphasized that his decisions have been aimed at maximizing the team's strengths and surprising opponents.
Key Decisions That Paid Off
Parag highlighted several instances where his unconventional tactics worked in RR's favor. "I have taken a lot of brave calls this season, whether it's about bowling changes, field placements, or batting order. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but I believe in backing my instincts," he said. One such move was promoting himself up the order in a crucial match, which resulted in a quickfire half-century.
The 23-year-old also credited the team management for allowing him the freedom to experiment. "The support staff has been brilliant. They let me take risks without fear of failure. That's how you grow as a captain," he added.
Focus on Team Unity
Despite individual brilliance, Parag stressed the importance of collective effort. "Cricket is a team sport. My brave calls are only effective when the team executes them well. The boys have shown great character," he said. RR currently sits in the top half of the points table, with a strong chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Looking Ahead
With a few league matches remaining, Parag is confident about RR's chances. "We are peaking at the right time. The brave calls will continue because that's our brand of cricket. We want to entertain and win," he concluded.
