Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has strongly advocated for the inclusion of 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the Indian national team. Jadeja revealed that he even raised the matter with chief selector Ajit Agarkar during the IPL 2026 final.
Speaking after Sooryavanshi's extraordinary IPL campaign, Jadeja questioned what more the youngster could possibly do to demonstrate his readiness for higher honors. "How much better can he perform? I saw the chairman and asked him, 'Mr Chairman! When will you pick Vaibhav Sooryavanshi? If not now, then when? Irrespective of his age, how could anyone possibly bat better than this?'" Jadeja said while speaking to ANI.
The calls for Sooryavanshi's India debut have grown increasingly louder following a season in which he dominated opposition attacks and finished as one of the standout performers of IPL 2026. The Rajasthan Royals batter amassed 776 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 48.50 and a staggering strike rate of 237.30. His prolific run-scoring earned him the Orange Cap as the tournament's highest run-getter.
Although Rajasthan Royals fell short of a place in the final, Sooryavanshi was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season. He also won the Emerging Player of the Season award and collected several other accolades during the end-of-season presentation ceremony. Among the prizes was an SUV, though the 15-year-old will have to wait another three years before he is legally eligible to drive it.
Sooryavanshi's meteoric rise has attracted attention far beyond his statistics. Alongside his record-breaking IPL campaign, he has become one of the most talked-about young cricketers in the country, with numerous former players and fans viewing him as a future star for India.
