Seized Items

During the raids, police seized 15 mobile phones, 14 SIM cards, four ATM cards, two laptops and around Rs 50,000 in cash from their possession. The devices are being analyzed to uncover more evidence and identify other members of the gang.

Fraudulent Methods Used

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused posed as bank officials and called victims, claiming their debit or credit cards would be blocked. They obtained confidential banking details from victims and carried out fraudulent transactions through online payment platforms such as PhonePe and Google Pay,” the SP said. He added that the accused also impersonated electricity department officials and duped people in the name of electricity bill payments.

Legal Action

Cases were registered at the Cyber Crime police station under case numbers 29/26 and 30/26. Police said seized devices are being examined to trace other suspects and the scale of the fraud. Further investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire network.
