Adnan Sami Refuses to Remix His Iconic Songs, Avoids Competing

Singer-composer Adnan Sami, celebrated for delivering numerous chartbusters over the years, recently opened up about his reluctance to recreate or remix his own iconic tracks. In an exclusive interaction, the musician shared that revisiting his biggest hits feels like competing with himself, a situation he consciously avoids as an artist.

Over the years, songs like 'Lift Kara De', 'Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao', and 'Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein' have continued to enjoy immense popularity among listeners. However, Sami revealed that he has intentionally stayed away from reworking them. Speaking to News18 about the remix offers he received for some of his most beloved songs, Adnan Sami admitted that several proposals came his way, but he chose not to accept them.

“I was approached to do 'Lift Kara De', 'Kabhi Toh Nazar Mila', and 'Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein', and I politely turned them down because I have already said what I wanted to say. Now if someone else wants to say something different, they can do so,” he shared. The singer further explained that he prefers preserving the originality of those tracks rather than altering them for modern trends.

Adnan Sami also reflected on the artistic pressure of recreating music that already holds emotional value for listeners. According to him, remixing his own songs could make him feel like he is trying to outdo his earlier work. “I don’t want to touch them. I will end up possibly competing with my own self, why would I do that?” the composer said. However, he also clarified that he does not completely rule out the possibility of revisiting an old composition someday if he genuinely feels inspired to do so.

Even though Sami avoids official remixes, he revealed that he often reinvents his music while performing live on stage. He pointed out that his concerts allow him to creatively reinterpret songs without changing their original essence. “One day I might feel compelled to do another version of one particular song, but that is only when I want to do it,” he stated. He further added, “Anyway, I always remix my own songs when I perform live, and I, by the way, sing during my performances as opposed to lip-syncing.”

Adnan Sami May Revisit Underrated Songs

Interestingly, the musician hinted that he may someday return to lesser-known tracks that did not receive enough attention when they were originally released. He explained that some songs deserved a wider audience and perhaps a second chance. “Maybe tomorrow I will pick up a song that didn’t make waves at a particular time, and I might feel that, 'Let me re-try it,' because as an artist and as a composer, you feel that it deserved better and should have reached a wider audience,” he said.

Despite being open to experimenting with underrated music, Adnan Sami admitted that his biggest hits are unlikely to be recreated anytime soon. The singer believes some songs should remain exactly as audiences remember them. “For songs that have already sort of become, for lack of a better word, iconic, I wouldn’t want to touch them because I would want to leave them as they are,” he concluded.
