Apple has officially announced visionOS 27 for its Apple Vision Pro headsets, introducing a host of new features including Siri AI, Visual Intelligence, expanded Apple Intelligence integrations, advanced spatial computing tools, and numerous interface improvements. The update was unveiled at WWDC 2026 and is scheduled to roll out later this year.
Siri AI: A Smarter Assistant
A major highlight of visionOS 27 is Siri AI, Apple's new AI-powered assistant built on Apple Intelligence. According to Apple, Siri AI supports more natural conversations, understands personal context, performs actions across apps, and answers open-ended questions. Users can ask Siri to find photos, retrieve information from other Apple devices, summarize content, manage messages, and interact with apps like Music, Safari, and Reminders.
Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri app that stores conversations in one place, allowing users to continue discussions across devices and pin frequently accessed chats for later use.
Visual Intelligence
Another new capability is Visual Intelligence. Apple Vision Pro users can ask Siri questions about objects, documents, products, or content they are looking at in either their physical or digital environment. The assistant can then provide information or help users take actions based on what is displayed.
Siri AI will also gain writing-assistance tools that can generate drafts, rewrite text, and provide feedback while users are typing. Additionally, Apple allows users to customize Siri's voice characteristics, including pitch, speed, and tone.
Apple Intelligence Expands Across Apps
visionOS 27 extends Apple Intelligence features into several core apps. Safari will automatically organize bookmarks and Reading List entries into topics, making related content easier to find. The Passwords app will be able to identify weak or compromised credentials and assist users with updating them.
Apple is also expanding Image Playground, enabling users to generate and modify images using text or voice prompts directly within the platform.
New Spatial Experiences and Productivity Tools
Apple is introducing new ways to interact with immersive content through visionOS 27. Users will be able to convert panoramic photos into spatial scenes with depth effects and use them as personal Environments within Vision Pro. Apple is also adding a new Thórsmörk Environment inspired by Icelandic landscapes.
For productivity workflows, visionOS 27 adds support for spatially previewing and editing 3D models from a Mac. Designers and creators can bring 3D assets into their physical space, make real-time adjustments, and review changes without leaving the Vision Pro environment.
Quick Look is also receiving updates, including support for viewing wireframes, UV maps, and adding annotations directly to 3D models.
Interface and System Improvements
Apple has made several changes to the operating system's interface and navigation. Notifications can now automatically expand when users view them, enabling faster previews and actions. Control Center has been reorganized into separate sections for media controls, connectivity settings, and Environments.
The company says Apple Vision Pro will also connect to Wi-Fi faster, helping users access content more quickly after putting on the headset. Other updates include improvements to Dwell Control, faster Messages syncing across devices, new widget options, and support for immersive web experiences through Web Environments in Safari.
Apple said Siri AI will initially be available in English later this year and will require an Apple Intelligence-enabled device. visionOS 27 is expected to launch this fall for Apple Vision Pro users.
