In a significant move to enhance passenger safety and protect belongings, the Indian Railways has installed state-of-the-art CCTV cameras at 31 stations under the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR). Installation work is currently underway at an additional 17 stations across the division, officials confirmed.
Advanced Surveillance System
According to Danapur Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the newly installed surveillance system is equipped with advanced GPS-based control technology. This allows railway security personnel to maintain close vigilance on miscreants and anti-social elements attempting to enter railway premises. “The state-of-the-art monitoring mechanism will significantly strengthen station security and improve response time during emergencies,” he stated.
Stations Covered
Apart from Patna Junction, CCTV facilities have been made available at Danapur, Dumraon, Mokama, Lakhisarai, Hathidah, Biharsharif, Jamui, Jhajha, Khusrupur, Punpun, Jehanabad, Hilsa, Parsa Bazar, Barh, Islampur, and other stations. “Surveillance work is also in progress at several other stations including Sheikhpura, Warsaliganj, Tilaiya, Giddhaur, Barahiya, Rampur Dumra, and other additional stations in the division,” Siddarth added.
Enhanced Security Measures
Under the new security system, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel will receive immediate alerts about any suspicious activity or untoward incidents on station premises. “The round-the-clock surveillance is also expected to help prevent thefts and trace incidents involving missing minor children or newborns within station premises,” the DCM said.
The initiative marks a major step forward in railway security, leveraging technology to create a safer environment for passengers. With the expansion of CCTV coverage, the Danapur division aims to deter criminal activities and ensure rapid response to any security breaches.
