Dhar: Dhar Kotwali police late on Saturday booked six individuals for allegedly posting objectionable comments on social media, along with a video shot at Bhojshala. No arrests had been made until the filing of this report.
Complaint Filed by Local Resident
Kotwali police station in-charge Deepak Singh Chouhan informed TOI that a complaint was lodged by Himanshu Badge, a 21-year-old resident of the Nalcha Darwaja area in Dhar town, on Friday night. The complaint led to the registration of a case against the accused.
Details of the Alleged Offense
According to police, Aman Khan allegedly posted a video of Bhojshala on social media on Friday afternoon while religious rituals were underway at the site. The video was uploaded with an objectionable remark. Subsequently, Sonu Khan, Altaf Mirza, and three others posted comments on the same post, further escalating the matter.
The complainant submitted screenshots of the post and comments to the police as evidence. Following an investigation, police registered a case against all six accused under section 223(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobedience of an order promulgated by a public servant.
Violation of Prohibitory Orders
Chouhan stated that the alleged act was in violation of the prohibitory orders issued by the Dhar district administration. The administration had widely circulated these orders across Dhar and through social media platforms to maintain peace and communal harmony, especially in light of recent court proceedings related to Bhojshala. Police said efforts were underway to trace the accused, but no arrests had been made so far.
Context of the Incident
The case comes a day after large-scale celebrations were held at Bhojshala on Friday following court orders that allowed the Hindu side to perform worship at the site. The prohibitory orders were aimed at preventing any disturbances during this sensitive period. Police continue to investigate the matter and urge the public to refrain from spreading objectionable content online.
