Residents of Domlur in Bengaluru have expressed serious safety concerns after a road was white-topped around a standing electricity pole, creating a hazardous obstacle. The new setup, which leaves the pole protruding from the road surface, is particularly dangerous at night, according to locals.
Lack of Reflective Markings
The concrete divider surrounding the pole carries no reflective markings or illumination. Two-wheeler riders are at heightened risk of colliding with the structure in the dark. Residents have urged the civic authorities to install proper warning signs and lighting to prevent accidents.
Community Outcry
Local resident associations have filed complaints with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), demanding immediate corrective measures. They argue that the white-topping work was executed without considering the existing infrastructure, leading to this dangerous situation.
The incident highlights ongoing issues with road safety in the city, where rapid infrastructure upgrades sometimes overlook critical details like visibility and signage. Authorities have yet to respond to the complaints.
