JALGAON: A tragic road accident on the Amalner-Dhule highway near Mangrul village claimed five lives and left two others injured on Tuesday morning. The collision involved a sedan, a state transport (ST) bus, and a motorcycle.
Details of the Incident
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vinayak Kote, the accident occurred around 7 am. A sedan and a motorcycle were traveling from Dhule toward Amalner when the sedan struck the motorcycle from behind. Following the initial impact, the sedan collided with an oncoming ST bus.
The collision resulted in the deaths of two persons, including a woman, who were riding the motorcycle. Inside the sedan, which carried four occupants, three passengers, including a woman, died at the scene, while the driver sustained injuries. One passenger on board the ST bus also suffered minor injuries.
Rescue and Traffic Impact
Hearing the sound of the collision, local residents rushed to the spot to provide help and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital. Highway traffic was disrupted for some time after the accident but has since resumed after police cleared the vehicles from the roadway, said DySP Kote.
The Amalner-Dhule road is a single carriageway without a road divider, which may have contributed to the severity of the accident.
