A pall of gloom descended on Kardiyal village in the Jawali subdivision of Himachal Pradesh on Monday after a 16-year-old boy drowned in the Dehar khud while bathing with his friends.
Incident Details
The deceased, identified as Bansh, went to the rivulet along with his friends Akash and Surjeet in the afternoon. According to preliminary information, he accidentally slipped into a deep portion of the stream and drowned. His friends raised an alarm, prompting local residents to rush to the spot and pull him out of the water. He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Jawali, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Sequence of Events
Sources said that the deceased and his friends had earlier gone to Kharota in Jawali in his father's car to obtain an LPG refill from a gas agency. After failing to get the refill, they proceeded to the nearby rivulet and began bathing, during which the mishap occurred.
Police Investigation
Police reached the spot and recorded the statements of the two friends who were present at the time of the incident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. The body has been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Nurpur for post-mortem examination.
Family Background
The tragic incident has left the family and residents of Kardiyal village in shock. Notably, the victim's 16-year-old sister had died in February due to a serious illness, adding to the family's grief.
