Banas Dairy raises milk procurement price by Rs 15/kg fat

Palanpur: Asia's largest dairy cooperative, Banas Dairy, has announced a Rs 15 per kg fat increase in milk procurement prices, bringing cheer to lakhs of milk producers across Banaskantha and Patan districts. With the revision, the milk purchase price has been raised to Rs 860 per kg fat. Dairy officials said the hike is aimed at helping farmers cope with rising expenses related to cattle maintenance, fodder procurement, and feed costs.

Impact on Farmers and Rural Economy

Banas Dairy chairman Shankar Chaudhary said the dairy is currently receiving an additional 70 lakh litres of milk every day. He said the revised pricing is expected to directly benefit around 4.5 lakh cattle breeders in the region. Officials added that the increase will also boost the rural economy, as crores of rupees will circulate through higher payments to farmers.

Revised Pricing Structure

Payments to milk producers will continue to be credited based on the category of cow and buffalo milk, as well as SNF (Solids-Not-Fat) content, under the revised pricing slabs. Chaudhary said, “We remain committed to the welfare of cattle breeders and farmers, and this increase in the base price is an important step in that direction.”
