A 27-year-old man from Wagholi lost his life, and his woman friend sustained severe injuries after they fell off their motorcycle and came under the wheels of a truck near Manchar, approximately 65 kilometers from Pune. The accident occurred on Tuesday evening, as confirmed by the Manchar police.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Hrishikesh Surve, a resident of Wagholi who worked at a builder's office in Pune. His friend, a student of an engineering college in Baramati taluka, suffered fractures to her left thigh and is currently undergoing treatment.
How the Accident Happened
According to a police officer from the Manchar police station, Surve had traveled to Manchar on his motorcycle on Tuesday evening to meet his friend. The woman urgently needed to reach her home near Narayangaon, so Surve decided to drop her. As they reached Pimpalgaon Chowk, their motorcycle brushed against a sports utility vehicle (SUV), causing Surve to lose balance. Both fell off the road and came under the wheels of a truck approaching from the opposite direction.
Police Action
Surve died on the spot, while his friend sustained severe injuries. The Manchar police have registered a case of causing death by negligence and are investigating the incident further.
