SEBI Officials Detail Diverse Investment Avenues at Advantage Vidarbha Summit

At the Advantage Vidarbha summit in Nagpur, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) officials provided a comprehensive overview of the modern securities market, highlighting its evolution to cater to varied investor needs. Rahul Kelapure, Assistant General Manager at SEBI, led a session titled 'Opportunities and Risks in the Securities Market,' where he emphasized the broad spectrum of investment products available under SEBI's regulatory framework.

Wide Range of Regulated Investment Options

Kelapure explained that investors today have access to numerous choices designed to align with different financial goals and risk tolerances. These include investments in gold and silver, Nifty index funds, sector-specific mutual funds, as well as mid-cap and small-cap funds. He noted that the market has matured significantly, effectively serving both conservative investors who prioritize stability and aggressive investors seeking higher returns.

In addition to traditional options, Kelapure highlighted alternative avenues such as Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). REITs allow individuals to invest in property-linked assets without the need for direct ownership of real estate, making real estate investment more accessible and liquid for the average investor.

Interactive Guidance on Financial Planning

Making the session interactive, Kelapure guided participants through key aspects of investment strategies, asset allocation, and the importance of investment tenure. He stressed that financial planning must be tailored to both short-term and long-term objectives, ensuring a balanced approach to wealth accumulation and risk management.

SEBI's Focus on Financial Literacy and MSME Support

Earlier in the program, Jeevan Sonparote, Executive Director of SEBI, spoke on the critical importance of financial literacy. He outlined SEBI's initiatives to engage with colleges and educational institutions, aiming to promote awareness about investments and financial security from an early stage.

Sonparote also informed attendees about SEBI's special sessions under the Advantage platform, which are designed to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in getting listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for educated youth, fostering economic growth in the region.

Event Highlights and Dignitaries

The program commenced with opening remarks by CA Girish Deodhar, Chairman of AID, who also felicitated the dignitaries present. The event saw attendance from SEBI representatives Piyush Chaurasia and Bala Kumari, along with various industry representatives and participants. Ashish Mukim served as the co-convenor for the event on behalf of AID, ensuring its smooth execution.

Overall, the summit underscored SEBI's commitment to enhancing investor education and expanding market access, providing valuable insights into the dynamic world of securities investments.
