NPCI Expands UPI One World Wallet for International AI Summit Attendees
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has significantly expanded its innovative 'UPI One World' wallet services to accommodate international visitors from over forty countries who are attending the prestigious India AI Impact Summit. This flagship global gathering, hosted by the Government of India under the ambitious IndiaAI Mission, is scheduled to take place from February 16th to 20th in the capital city of New Delhi.
Seamless Digital Payments for Foreign Travelers
In an official announcement, NPCI revealed that through this strategic pilot initiative, inbound foreign travelers will gain the ability to execute seamless, secure, and real-time Person-to-Merchant (P2M) UPI payments throughout their stay in India. The 'UPI One World' wallet is conveniently accessible through authorized Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) issuers located at New Delhi International Airport and at the dedicated NPCI Pavilion in Hall 14, Stall number 14.16, within Bharat Mandapam.
Travelers can effortlessly load the digital wallet using a variety of international payment methods and subsequently conduct transactions by simply scanning UPI QR codes via the specialized PPI-UPI application. This forward-thinking solution effectively eliminates the traditional necessity to carry physical cash or navigate the often complex intricacies of foreign exchange management. Furthermore, any remaining unused balance can be conveniently transferred back to the original payment source in full compliance with established foreign exchange regulations.
Step-by-Step Guide to Utilizing the UPI One World Service
NPCI has meticulously outlined a clear set of steps for users to successfully avail themselves of the 'UPI One World' service:
- Download the official CheqUPI application developed by Transcorp from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
- Complete the comprehensive application form by entering personal details such as mobile number, full name, and email address, and uploading required documents including a valid passport and visa.
- Take a clear selfie directly within the application for verification purposes.
- Securely set your unique UPI PIN; upon completion, a distinct UPI ID will be automatically generated for your account.
- Load your UPI One World wallet using an international debit or credit card.
- Once all steps are submitted and verified, the application is fully activated and ready for immediate payments.
Important Transaction Limits: Users can load up to Rs 25,000 per individual transaction. A maximum of two wallet loadings are permitted per calendar month, with a cumulative total cap of Rs 50,000.
