Varanasi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that 0.645 hectares of nazul land of gata number 247 in Ayodhya worth Rs 2.92 crore was bought by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for Rs 24 crore.
Serious Allegations Against Trust
Addressing a press conference at Circuit House here on Monday, Singh leveled serious allegations against the trust regarding land purchase, donation theft and alleged corruption in offerings. Singh said that nazul land used to be government land and it cannot be bought or sold without being made freehold.
He said that in a document issued by the sub-divisional magistrate on July 22, 2024, this land was described as nazul land, whereas its purchase took place on April 2, 2024. He alleged that this deal exposed how donations being made by devotees are looted and their faith is tampered.
Details of the Land Deal
According to him, the seller of the land is Mahant Murlidhar Das, while the buyer is the trust’s general secretary Champat Rai. Mithileshwar Das and Mukesh Das were stated as witnesses in the deal. Singh said that earlier too he had raised the matter of land worth Rs 2 crore in Ayodhya being bought for Rs 18.50 crore.
Allegations of Donation Theft
Singh alleged volume of theft of money collected through donation boxes and other offerings was over Rs 200 crore. He said that the role of more than 50 employees has come to light and nine arrests have been made, but no action could be taken against the main culprits.
Demand for Investigation
Raising questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Central investigation agencies, Singh asked why the ED and CBI are not taking action on allegations connected to trust. He demanded the immediate dissolution of the current trust, the arrest of those responsible and an impartial investigation.
