Bihar CM Orders Four-Lane Ganga Path Project Start via PPP

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday directed the Road Construction Department (RCD) to commence work on the Safiabad (Munger)–Sabour four-lane Ganga Path via Sultanganj and Bhagalpur under the hybrid annuity or public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Reviewing road and bridge projects at his official residence, Lok Sewak Awas, the CM termed the Ganga Path project “very important” and instructed officials to ensure time-bound execution without compromising on quality. “It will improve road connectivity in eastern Bihar and boost economic activity and tourism,” he said.

Emphasis on Quality and Timely Completion

Choudhary stressed that no laxity would be tolerated in construction or maintenance. “Providing safe, smooth and quality roads is among the government’s top priorities,” he said, adding that there would be no fund constraints for road and bridge projects or their upkeep. However, he cautioned against financial wastefulness and called for better resource management, along with timely completion of projects. He also directed the department to engage experts for regular inspection of all bridges and ensure their safety audit as per standard norms.

Review Meeting and Presentations

Earlier, RCD Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal gave a detailed presentation on the progress of road and bridge construction, maintenance work, and upcoming projects. Those present at the review meeting included RCD Minister Kumar Shailendra, the CM’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, the CM’s Secretaries Lokesh Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Singh, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Chairman Chandrashekhar Singh, and Bihar State Road Development Corporation Managing Director Shirshat Kapil Ashok, among other officials.
