The Maharashtra government has appointed retired additional chief secretary Deepak Kapoor as the new vice-chairman and managing director of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) for a period of two years. This appointment is part of an administrative reshuffle within the state-run infrastructure and aviation development agency.
Reassignment of Swati Pandey
Simultaneously, the government has reassigned Swati Pandey, an Indian Postal Service officer who was serving as the vice-chairman and managing director of MADC on deputation. Pandey has now been appointed as the joint managing director of the corporation.
Kapoor's Appointment on Contractual Basis
According to a government resolution (GR), Kapoor, who retired on April 30 earlier this year after serving as additional chief secretary, has been appointed on a contractual basis. The decision considers his extensive administrative experience. He will head MADC, the nodal agency responsible for key infrastructure projects, including the Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (Mihan) and several airport development initiatives across Maharashtra.
Expected Impact
With Kapoor taking charge as the new vice-chairman and managing director, the state is expected to leverage his decades of experience in public administration to accelerate MADC's strategic projects and strengthen the execution of infrastructure initiatives. His leadership is anticipated to bring efficiency and momentum to ongoing and future airport development projects.
