The Gujarat government has unveiled a comprehensive package of incentives for startups under the Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026, focusing on women-led ventures and high-technology enterprises. The policy aims to bolster the state's startup ecosystem and encourage innovation in emerging sectors.
Sustenance Allowance for Startups
Under the new policy, startups will receive a sustenance allowance of Rs 25,000 per month for one year. Notably, startups with women co-founders will be eligible for a higher allowance of Rs 30,000 per month. High-tech, fintech, biotech, and green startups can avail this support for an additional year, extending the benefit period.
Seed Support and Additional Incentives
The policy introduces seed support of up to Rs 30 lakh for startups and up to Rs 40 lakh for high-impact ventures. An additional support of Rs 10 lakh has been proposed for high-tech, fintech, disruptive, and green startups, providing them with extra financial backing to scale their operations.
Women entrepreneurs will also benefit from an additional 1% interest subsidy on loans. Rental assistance of up to 75% of rent paid, capped at Rs 3 lakh annually for five years, will be provided. Furthermore, support for acceleration programs and skill development initiatives has been outlined to nurture entrepreneurial talent.
Focus on Emerging Sectors
Officials stated that the policy seeks to strengthen Gujarat's startup ecosystem and support innovation-led entrepreneurship across emerging sectors such as semiconductors, green energy, drones, and robotics. This strategic move is expected to attract investment and foster a culture of innovation in the state.
